Men’s fertility
Fertility is often thought of as mainly a women’s issue, but male factors are involved more often than people expect. Because of this, I always see fertility as something that can be supported on both sides.
Some men come to see me after receiving test results, such as low sperm count, motility, or morphology. Others come earlier on, simply wanting to support their health while trying to conceive.
In my work, I look beyond sperm health alone. I take into account your overall well-being, including energy, stress, sleep, and lifestyle, as all of these can play a part in reproductive health.
Treatment is always tailored to you as an individual. From an acupuncture perspective, this might involve supporting underlying imbalances, improving circulation, or addressing factors that may be affecting sperm production. As sperm development takes around three months, any changes tend to happen gradually over that time.
Some people choose acupuncture while trying to conceive naturally, while others use it alongside fertility treatment such as IVF. I’m always happy to work in a way that complements any care you’re already receiving.
I often see and treat both partners whilst they are trying for a baby. A personalised course of acupuncture, along with simple changes to diet and lifestyle where appropriate, can all play a part in supporting fertility. There is also a growing body of clinical research looking at acupuncture and male fertility. If you’d like to explore this further, I’m very happy to point you towards information that feels relevant to you. If you’re unsure whether this could be helpful, do get in touch, and we can talk it through. All sessions remain strictly confidential.
